A rare pair of Emile Gallè ceramic vases

France, Nancy, circa 1890
Partially gilt and signed both 'E. Gallè Nancy', mark under the base and mark of the production 'Deposé'. One vase has marks of a professional restorations. After the Exposition Universelle in Paris of the year 1878, Emile Gallé begins to use Oriental decorations for the painting of his ceramics. Still under development this new style of the decoration and the selection of the forms transmits a sense of disharmony, but in the last decade of the 1800s this synthesis becomes brilliant and definitive. This pair of exceptional vases is a rare exempel of this brilliant synthesis reached by Emile Gallé., h. 39,5 cm.
