Ferdinando Vichi was born in Florence, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts and was part of the group of talented Tuscan sculptors associated with Bazzanti Gallery in Florence. Photographer and sculptor, as a young man, is appreciated as a fine portraitist, exposing, among others, the Salon of Paris and working all over Europe, the Americas and even India. After some awards, including the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the Exhibitions of Venice and Livorno, in 1907 he was awarded the title of Knight of the Kingdom. His compositions are varied and range from ancient styles to Oriental themes inspired by Renaissance models.
