Marsala 1630 - Alcamo 1692
"The Battle between Constantine and Massenzio at Ponte Milvio", etching in 4 slabs applied on engraved canvas in 1683 and coloured with a tempera, Fridricus Anders facit 1766 written on the bottom right, within a non coeval golden wood frame. The legend tells that Constantine, encamped in the plain of Saxa-Rubra, dreamed an angel with a cross with the words "In Hoc Signo Vinces" (you will win under this symbol), indicates the complete conversion to the Christianity of the Emperor and the People Roman. Published by G. De Rossi in Rome Condition: The surface has two paper cracks-paper breaks on the left, the rest of the surface is in excellent condition, 77x179 cm.
